Mixing Explosives

WARNING: This video contains footage of a large wild pig carcass being blown sky high.

Law enforcement officials say the bomb detonated in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood contained residue of Tannerite, a do-it-yourself “binary explosive” you can pick up from your local outdoors store for as little as $7.99 a pack.

Tannerite and its sister explosives are often used by hunters. For instance in Texas farmers are fighting a serious wild pig infestation by hunting down the pigs, then spectacularly disposing of the carcasses with Tannerite or a similar explosive concoction called Mattanite. Here you can watch a demo by a federally-licensed explosives expert, Matt Barnett. He shows us how he makes a lethal explosive in just two steps.
